Win tix to award-winning West End and Broadway hit, EQUUS!

Location: Youth.sg
Closing Date: 17 Aug 2011
Category: Online, Free

Startling and thought-provoking, EQUUS is a play that questions human nature and evokes the deepest of emotions through a gripping tale of crime and passion.

Lawyer Hesther Saloman calls on her friend and colleague, Psychiatrist Martin Dysart. She brings him the most challenging case of his career: a seventeen year old boy named Alan Strang. Alan has a mundane job and two parents who love him. He is, by all accounts, normal. Until one night, on a date with alluring young stablehand Jill, Alan commits an act of unthinkable violence against the thing he loves most. As the community struggles to pick up the pieces, Dysart is left to answer the question: Why did Alan Strang blind six horses with a metal spike?

Written by British playwright Peter Shaffer in 1973, the Tony award-winning (1975) and brilliantly scripted play was first staged at the Royal National Theatre in London in the same year. Following a successful premiere, EQUUS toured extensively in Europe and America, and has featured famed actors such as Anthony Hopkins and George Takei. Notably, it opened to much acclaim on the West End (2007) and Broadway (2008) with Daniel Radcliffe in the lead.

Proudly staged by Toy Factory Productions, the play is helmed by up-and-coming female director Rayann Condy, who was last seen in Toy Factory Production’s 881 The Musical as one of the Ang Moh Durian Sisters. “Audiences can expect a psychological thriller with no tricks or gimmicks, just raw performance at its best.” elaborates Director Rayann Condy.

EQUUS will star Brendon Fernandez as the psychiatrist, Martin Dysart and feature the young and talented Ethan Chia in his breakthrough lead role, Alan Strang. The Singapore-based cast also includes Crispian Chan, Elizabeth Loh, Kluane Saunders, Rebecca Lee and Walter Hanna.

Win! One pair of tickets to EQUUS up for grabs (Aug 30, 8pm show)! Thanks to the kind folks from Toy Factory Productions.
